In this vibrant burst of colours and emotion, I wielded acrylics and sprays with fervour, channelling raw expressionism into a dance of figurative contours and pop art energy. Each brushstroke is a heartbeat; together, they encapsulate resilience, a spirited homage to the strength of vulnerability. This piece invites introspection and courage, a striking conversation starter that will infuse any space with its intense vitality and spirited essence.
Inspired by both the sensation of rising through the surface, and having your figure mirrored on the underneath surface of the water. One of those moments when you are unsure which is the "real" you - perhaps an opportunity to rewrite your story. Named after a lyric in Birdy's song "Let it all go".
As with most of my paintings, I have painted in layers. The background uses action painting (expressionistic) techniques - pouring, dripping, splashing paint and involving my body in the painting process rather than just the paintbrush. The figure was created using contemporary art pop art techniques and stencils, and a further layer of hand painting brought the foreground and background together. My palette uses strong contrasts to capture a mood of strength.
Painted onto a stretched canvas, the face of the painting measures 90cm x 120cm. Ready to hang and enjoy!
